Dream it.
For many people, our siblings are the longest relationships in our lives. Youth who spend time separated from their siblings often miss milestones, holidays, and day-to-day memories that form the basis of deep relationships. Sibling Camp was created to help youth separated from their siblings in foster, kinship, or adoptive care spend a week of uninterrupted time together making memories.
CELEBRATE it.
During the week of Sibling Camp, campers will take part in many standard “summer camp” activities, like swimming, boating & outdoor games, as well as intentional programs focused on strengthening the relationships between siblings. They will also have the opportunity to build community with other youth with similar life experiences.
Watch it grow.
Since 2015, we have served nearly 400 siblings at Sibling Camp. Former campers have returned as camp counselors, volunteered in program administration, and served on our Board of Directors. In addition to helping build and maintain sibling relationships, we have also built a Belong Wisconsin community of support.
FAQs
-
The full cost for a camper to attend camp is $1000. The fee charged for each camper is $500, and Belong Wisconsin sponsors the remaining cost through grants and fundraising.
Generally, campers who are involved with their county DCF can request to have the camper fee covered or reimbursed by the county. We also have a limited number of scholarships available. Thanks to our generous donors, we have never had to turn away a camper due to cost.
The cost of full week volunteers attending camp is covered in full by Belong Wisconsin through grants and fundraising, including volunteer training weekend.

Counselors: our primary need for volunteers is for full week camp counselors. Counselors are with a group of approximately 10 campers and 4-5 counselors throughout the week.
Nurses: we also need 2-4 licensed nurses, who will work as part of a nursing team. Camp nurses store and distribute medications, provide first aid, and assist with administrative tasks as able.
Media: camp functions best with a great media team. We are looking for 1-2 volunteers to take photos for camper yearbooks and manage our social media updates. We have additional opportunities for videography and journalism for those who may be interested in this project.
Day Volunteers: Some of our programs require additional support beyond our daily needs, so we recruit day volunteers who can volunteer for a full or half day to assist with a specific program.
All volunteers must complete a background check provided by Belong Wisconsin. All overnight volunteers must attend Volunteer Training from August 15-17.
If you are interested or have questions about any of these roles, please reach out to us!

Campers: After an application is completed, one of our staff will reach out to the care provider(s) to complete screenings for all siblings to ensure we can support them successfully at camp.
Volunteers: After you apply to volunteer, a staff member will reach out to your references, and then schedule an interview. All volunteers must also complete a background check, which will be provided by Belong Wisconsin.

After you have completed the screening process and are accepted, we encourage all campers, caregivers, and volunteers to complete an orientation- through our in person or virtual Sibling Camp Launch Parties or our recorded video orientation.
All overnight volunteers are required to attend our Volunteer Training Weekend from August 15-17 at Lakeland University in Plymouth.
Throughout the week, we facilitate various intentional programs in addition to traditional summer camp activities. These programs are designed to enhance sibling relationships, empower campers, and build community. If you would like more details about our programs during the week, check out the link below.
